Kai Stainless Double Edge Razor Blades

They are an ok blade on my face not the most comfortable. I bought them because Kai’s are wider blade which might give me a closer shave. The jury is still out and wil take several shaves to determine

I tried these as an experiment to try and find an alternative to my normal Feather blades. I’m happy with the sharpness and slightly aggressive nature of the Feather but I would like to find that Goldilocks combination of sharp and smooth and these Kai blades have been touted as Feather’s successor.
Very disappointing. I used them in my usual Gillette Slim, set to 5 as usual. They felt extremely rough so I dialled down to 3 but they felt no better. Thinking it might have just been down to my pre-shave routine, I did the other side of my face with a Feather set back to 5 and it was vastly smoother and felt just as sharp, sharper in fact.
I ran a thumb down the edge of the Kai and I could feel burrs on the edge. When gently stroked on a leather strop it left distinct scratches and under magnification you could see the roughness compared to the Feather. Thinking it might just be a rogue blade (it happens), I checked the other four in the pack and they were all the same.
Worth trying and they might suit some beards better but they’re not for me.
